University of Guilan has successfully ranked 9th among the Iranian universities in the 2019 edition of the ISC World University rankings.

According to the latest rankings published by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) in 2019, 43 universities from Iran are ranked among the 246 universities selected from 24 countries, where the University of Guilan is ranked 9th in Iran, and 101-125 in the overall rankings among the universities in the Islamic countries. University of Guilan was ranked 10th among16 Iranian universities in the 2018 edition of the ISC rankings.

It is important to note that universities become eligible for a place in the ISC rankings only if they have had at least 800 documents, including articles, proceedings papers and reviews, recorded in the WoS database in the past three years. This information is gathered from databases such as Incite, WoS, and USPTO.

To evaluate and rank universities, ISC uses 4 criteria: research (60 percent), innovation (15 percent), education (10 percent), and international activity (15 percent).
