S. Mohsen Asghari was born in 1978 and raised in Tehran, received his B.S. (2000) in Biology-animal sciences from Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, and his M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008), both in Biochemistry from Tarbiat Modares University. During M.S. and Ph.D, most of his research has involved in the protein engineering and structure-function relationship in bacterial alpha-amylases and neutral proteases under supervision of Prof. Khosro Khajeh. His group rationally design peptide mimetics to interrupt tumor angiogenesis driven by vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), and assess peptide-driven inhibition of the angiogenesis hallmarks in both in vitro and in vivo conditions They are also prepare the peptide-gold nanoparticle and peptide-HSA complexes to increase the peptides longevity in circulation and for targeting purposes.
