The representatives of universities, research institutes and Science and Technology Parks of the Association of State Universities of Caspian Region five member countries (Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan) met at the 1st Science, Research and Technology Committee of the Association of State Universities of Caspian Region Countries, at the Astrakhan State University, on 20th February. This meeting was held following the initiative of establishing research, educational and student committees, at the 22nd Association of State Universities of the Caspian Region Countries, which was held at University of Guilan on 1-2 October 2020.02.28, where Astrakhan State University was put in charge of the research committee of this association.
University and Science and Technology Park representatives of Guilan and Mazandaran, ambassador of I.R. of Iran to Astrakhan, representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the Science and Cultural organization of UNESCO at Astrakhan University along many other distinguished science and cultural representatives of these five countries were present, to assist the team in preparing the Statute and Roadmap of future cooperation of this association.
In the first day of this two-day session, fields of cooperation of the association members, under the title of ‘the Caspian Sea in 21st Century; solutions to Sustainable Development' were discussed. In doing so, Dr Mir Hosseini, the Deputy of Research and Technology of University of Guilan, as the representative of the Dean of the Association, elaborated on the main priorities of research at the Caspian Sea.
Dr Mir Hosseini referred to this association as a suitable platform for exchange of science and technology between universities, research institutions and Science and Technology Parks of the member countries, and noted pollution, biodiversity, transport, economy, culture, civilization and public and social relations of the Caspian Sea region as the most important priorities of research. He further proposed for this Association to hold a Caspian Day event.
The proposed Statute and three main fields of general issues, scientific events and research priorities were then discussed by the participants.
Moreover, the Iranian representatives at this meeting paid a visit to the Department of Archeology of the Astrakhan State University, and Skolkovo Innovation Center and discussed possibilities for signing a MoU between this Centre and Science and Technology Park of Guilan.
