The Leiden ranking system published the ranking results of the world's top universities in 2023.

In this ranking, 46 universities from Iran are among the top 1411 universities in the world. The University of Guilan was ranked 792nd in terms of Scientific impact, 1018th in Scientific diplomacy, 1018th in Open access, and 982nd in Gender. Also, the University of Guilan was ranked 19th among 46 Iranian universities in the same above-mentioned criteria.
