According to the invitation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, the Director of International Scientific Cooperation at the University of Guilan, Dr. Mehdi Hedayati Shahidani, visited this country, to consult on various issues and topics of scientific exchange with the officials of Moscow State University (Lomonosov), Amor University and Russian Financial University. On this trip, where the head of the Caucasus Studies Foundation of Tehran University was also present, how to set up bilateral contracts between the parties was discussed and opinions were shared.

In the meeting between the director of international scientific cooperation of the University of Guilan and the vice president of international affairs of Moscow State University, the parties emphasized the continuation of cooperation between the two universities based on the contract signed last year. Holding academic courses with the provision of joint degrees (Dual Degree Program), supporting study opportunities related to the activities of professors and doctoral students, conducting joint research, as well as supporting short-term courses to strengthen the educational level of students are among the most important understandings between the two universities. In the end, the parties emphasized the preparation of practical guidelines for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the two universities. It should be noted that Moscow State University was established in 1755 and currently 40 thousand students are studying and researching in 39 faculties and institutes of this university. In the QS ranking system in 2022, this university is ranked 76th in the world and the best university in Russia.

 Also, in the meeting between Dr. Hedayati Shahidani and Dr. Yekaterina Anatoliyona, vice president of educational affairs of the Russian University of Finance, it was emphasized how to speed up the process of concluding a cooperation memorandum between the two institutions. In this meeting, the officials of the Russian University of Finance expressed their interest in expanding scientific, educational, and research relations with the University of Guilan, and expressed their desire to receive proposals from the Iranian side. Visiting the Russian Money Museum at the University of Finance and also holding a specialized meeting with the faculty members of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of this university regarding the study of important issues in the Caucasus region was part of the side programs that were carried out in this meeting. The Financial University of Russia is considered one of the country's main universities in the field of economic sciences, which was established in 1919, and about 35 thousand students are studying and researching in its eleven faculties and institutes. This university has established scientific relations with other universities of the world in various programs, and the proposal to establish scientific cooperation with Guilan University was presented in the framework of such programs.

Also, with the coordination of the press department of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, participation in the news conference of the Rossiya Segodnya, one of the Russian news agencies, as well as an internet interview with The Caucus Journal, were among the programs that took place in this trip. In the end, the members of the delegation met with the officials of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in this meeting, the expansion of scientific cooperation between the educational and research societies of the two countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, was emphasized.
