According to the results announced by the Science and Technology Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC), three faculty members of University of Guilan are in the list of top one percent most cited researchers in the world, extracted from the Basic Science Indicators (ESI) database belonging to Clarivit Analytics (WOS).

According to the announced results, Dr. Reza Ansari Khalkhali an academic member of the Faculty of Mechanics in the multidisciplinary field, Dr. Farhad Shirini is an academic member of the faculty of sciences in the field of Chemistry, and Dr. Mohammad Ali Mirzazadeh an academic member of Faculty of Technology and Engineering in the field of engineering (Eastern Guilan) were among the top one percent of the world's most cited Iranian researchers.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Farhad Shirini and Dr. Reza Ansari Khalkhali have been included in this list for the fourth consecutive year and Dr. Mohammad Ali Mirzazadeh for the third consecutive year.

It should be mentioned that in order to be included in the list of top researchers, all scientific activities of the last 10 years between 2011 and 2021 have been analyzed at the international level, including the number of articles, the number of citations, the number of highly cited articles, and the number of citations to highly cited articles. Also, issues such as compliance with ethical principles in research, compliance with the acceptable level of self-citation, and retracted articles are influential in choosing a researcher from this list.
